The back of this dress is the real show stopper. The top of the dress in the back showcases a deep v with a fluttery ruffle down each side. The back of the skirt has a triangular-shaped insert lined with ruffles down both sides that give the dress extra volume and the appearance of a train. The dress slips on over the head with snaps at the side. Just be aware when looking at the measurements, the back being so open should help to get the dress on easier. (Image 10 shows Starlet Jean Harlow in a simular gown as well as Voge illustration of a similar style). The dress is in great shape for its age and for the material. There are two breaks in the right sleeve near the hem, but with the amount of volume in the flutter sleeve, they are not noticeable.
There is also a little discoloration/yellowing on the sleeves and the back ruffle and one small gray spot on the skirt, but is hard to find and is faint. These are just small things. The dress is still wearable with care and has been professionally cleaned. The marks on the hip are on my mannequin, not the dress. Please check the measurements closely for determining fit.I do not give sizes for vintage items as women sizes are not standardized and a majority of these dresses were homemade or specialty made to fit one person.
