You are viewing a very fine early Spanish carved oak coffer chest. In very good original (untouched) condition. This chest undoubtedly at one time was in a Spanish Castle.
Estimated date of manufacture late 16th century to early 17th century. All original with full length feet fully intact.Bottom boards were individually fitted and carved with a Roman numeral for proper fitment. Please see photo showing the amazing originality of this piece. Constructed from 1 thick hand planed solid oak with molded edge and raised panel front and sides. Retains original iron strap hinges and ornate iron lock mechanism. A true original treasure chest from the age of the Colonial Spanish empire. Found in a local estate. Condition original as found with minor signs of age and normal use. Some minor wood decay and old wood bore insect holes as normal for these old pieces. Appears to be original old surface.
